Alphonse Allais, born on 20 October 1854 in Honfleur and died on 28 October 1905 in Paris, was a French journalist, writer and humorist. Famous in the Belle Époque, known for his sharp pen and absurd humour, he is particularly renowned for his puns and holorime verses. He is sometimes considered one of the greatest storytellers in the French language.
