Manifesto for a political and economic unification of Europe, with Geneva as its capital, to resist American imperialism. The second possible bulwark against American hegemony would be communism, represented by Moscow. However, the communist rampart represents only a simulacrum, "the shadow of capitalism", symbolizing for Drieu the triumph of death.
