Albert Raty, born in Bouillon on 17 August 1889 and died in Vresse-sur-Semois on 17 May 1970, is a Belgian painter. Born deaf and dumb, Albert Raty left Bouillon and his native Ardennes to be sent at the age of five to the Institute for the Deaf and Dumb in Brussels. This is where he becomes aware of his artistic potential. He then continued his artistic studies at the Ernest Blanc-Garin Academy in Brussels and then at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris with Lucien Simon. After painting in France (especially in Brittany and Aveyron), he returned to the Belgian Ardennes and more particularly the Semois valley where he captured rural life and the Ardennes landscapes on his canvases. He is also a renowned portraitist.

In good condition.
