Nice copy decorated with colour illustrations by M.B. de MONVEL in the middle of J.B. Weckerlin's accompaniments. Ex-libris in the form of a vignette on the back cover.
A small illustrated book with a double ambition: to please and educate. On the one hand, it allowed the future French citizens of the 19th century to discover a glimpse of France's cultural wealth. On the other hand, it gave the reader the opportunity to enjoy beautiful illustrations. Today, it is still as enjoyable as ever.
