Full period marbled calf binding. Spine with raised bands decorated with golden boxes with red title and brown tomaison pieces. Red slices. Decorated with 2 folding cards, one engraved by Croisey, the other by Pierre-François Tardieu.

First French edition, translated by Brissot, decorated with 2 folding maps.

The book presents, in the form of letters, the account of the journeys undertaken by the explorer William Macintosh through Europe, Africa and India, and contains, in particular, at the end of Volume II, an extract from Sparrmann's journey to Cape of Good Hope, with a description of the Hottentots and caffres.
