ORIGINAL EDITION

History of the American War of Independence from the stamp tax case in 1765 to the Treaty of Versailles in 1783; the author is in favour of the principles underlying the American revolution, but is committed to a real work of historian by collecting first-hand information, both handwritten memoirs and direct testimony from French, English and American actors. François Soulès published many other works, including translations from the English of Thomas Paine, Ann Radcliffe, Arthur Young, historians and travellers including William Bligh... One of the best French books on the War of Independence.
