LIMITED DRAWING This is one of the 100 numbered copies on Holland, second paper after 60 on Japan.

Unique copy ENRICHED OF 9 ORIGINAL AQUARELLES OF ALBERT ROBIDA: 6 compositions are performed directly from the book, at the top of the chapters; the other 3 on full page are inserted in the text.

In the "Twentieth Century", the artist had planned many new inventions, so her illustration fits well with this book, which humorously paints the misdeeds of progress. The illustration follows the text closely and alternates between views of ancient Rome and the Paris of the Third Republic, bucolic scenes and warlike representations. A battle scene shows grenade launchers and fires; a landscape is overflown with balloons and aeroplanes.

Beautiful copy.
