FIRST EDITION. Blue half-basane binding. Smooth spines decorated with golden fillets. Corners and caps slightly rubbed. Jaspered edges. Inside with freckles and some pencil annotations.
Works in good condition:"Toussenel remains a highly educated and ingenious naturalist; he describes with taste and accuracy more than three hundred and sixty species of birds, which live in France and which he has carefully observed." (Larousse) This work, which Toussenel composed after having moved somewhat away from the phalanstery, is as important for the exposition of Fourierist thought as for ornithological study.
