Charming copy of this book of peddling, illustrated with many woods in the text (including 4 on a full page), a frontispiece and 7 xylographic hors-texte, including 2 leaflets. The date and address are probably fictitious, and the book was probably printed at the beginning of the 19th century. A wise reader was less interested in the chapters indicating "How to change lead into fine gold" or "To make gold artificially" than in the secret advice for love, and crossed out or approved most of the 22 chapters describing them with a pencil (after having experienced them?).
