Full royal blue morocco binding with a mosaic composition, in relief and gilded on the first plate suggesting waves and coastal architecture of the Mediterranean basin. Smooth back with golden title in length. Golden head with original guilloche patterns. Blue and ochre suede counter plates. Binding signed Luigi CASTIGLIONI.
Original edition of Paul Morand's text admirably conceived by François-Louis SCHMIED (1873-1941), illustrated with 73 compositions in the text engraved on wood with the assistance of his son Théo Schmied, 58 of them in colours, showing wonderfully the colours of the oriental landscapes that pleased the artist so much.
LIMITED EDITING to 110 numbered copies, signed by François-Louis Schmied.
Copy enriched WITH A CONTINUATION OF THE 68 engraved woodcuts, i.e. all the illustrations, printed on thin Japan.
