Dr. V. de Rochas, a member of the Parisian societies of anthropology and geography, published mainly books on his travels and Oceania. Perhaps it was the outcasts from India who gave him the idea of doing research on those from his country. He mentions Francisque Michel's work and gives his criticism, specifying for Béarn that the latter had studied the titles of the crates more than the crates themselves, and that Pierre Bernard de Palassou is the only person who really studied this population.
