"Armand Robin died in 1961 in the worst possible dereliction. The poems and prose he had published or given on the radio, however, had created an audience for him, whose fervour and number he probably did not know. It was known that in dying he left a large part of his unpublished work, scattered and abandoned. Friendships near and far (we received letters from Athens, Cape Town) were worried. An expectation was emerging to which those who have gathered this collection are conscious of responding. This expectation will not be disappointed.
