In lined case and under shirt in bordeaux half marble with overlaps. Full burgundy morocco binding, title at the foot of a mosaic decoration of cream calf and red and gilded fillets in the shape of stained glass inlaid in the centre of the first dish. Smooth and silent back. All gold edges on witnesses. Beige calf plywood and guards decorated with a red morocco mosaic tile decoration. Cover and back kept. Binding signed MAROT-RODDE. Illustrated with coloured wood by Henry CHEFFER; coloured letters, headbands and lamp ends.

LIMITED EDITED to 220 copies, this one of 55 numbered copies on JAPAN containing one of the 20 additional sequences of first state illustrations on Pearlescent Japan.

Born in Rennes in 1870, Charles Géniaux has devoted many novels to his native land: "La passion d'Armelle Louanais" takes place in Guerno, in Morbihan. He also had a passion for the East and wrote several books inspired by his stays in North Africa.
