Bound in half dark brown leather. Spine with four nerves and ornate boxes, gilt filets, title and subtitle. Boards with cold-framed fillets. First board with gilt super-libris. Slight rubbing on the binding. All edges gilt. Minor spotting on the coloured endpapers. Browned paper. Good condition of the contents with black and white illustrations in and out of text as well as black and white maps out of text.
Imposing work making discover the charms of the Gascon coast contemporary to its publication. Certainly the information is somewhat dated, and the towns or landscapes evoked must have been considerably changed since then, but the reader will know all the same the magnificent work provided by the illustrators. Their numerous contributions do justice to their beauty.
