In all, 660 maps and views showing cities, towns, ports, landscapes and sites, monuments, portraits, costumes, etc. Each department is described at length and carefully: its history, geography, customs, idioms and patois, local biographies and bibliographies, economy and resources, castles, etc. Among the colonies, the recently conquered Algeria.
