"This short narrative edited in the immediate post-concentrationary period is not very common in its structuring nor in the "oral" dimension that it wants to attribute to itself. The explanation is simple. His editor's name is Georges Briquet, and as the book's foreword states, Georges Briquet is above all "a familiar voice, with a hint of Limousin accent, sometimes mocking or vibrating with a beautiful enthusiasm... A voice from back home, and certainly one of the most popular". For in the early 1940s, Georges Briquet was one of the great voices of the Tour de France. It is therefore through an unusual "written radio report" that the reader comes back to the painful journey of serial number 74311, from the Compiègne camp, this "large sloping courtyard swept by a violent wind that freezes the bones in the middle of June" at the Dachau camp where the SS welcomed him and his comrades with a schlag and reminded them that here "there was no stone without its bloodstain...". ».
