"Vieux P. E. (very american ain't it).

From a two-month stay in Tangier, which was to lead to the making of a film, Kessel drew this novel, composed in the manner of a collection of short stories, a kind of Thousand and One Nights in Tangier, "a city at once symbolically Moroccan and heterogeneously international".
Very nice copy
