Conceived in Hamburg in July 1914,[nbsp]Le Père humilié was composed in Rome between November 1915 and July 1916, in the enthusiasm and wonder that Claudel felt when he visited the Italian capital.The humiliated Father  is the" suite " of the[nbsp]Hard Bread[nbsp]as The Hard Bread was the suite of  The Hostage.The action took place in Rome from 1869 to 1871, when Garibaldi's troops seized the Pope's states and the war between Germany and France allied with Italy broke out in 1870.
