André Pieyre de Mandiargues' erotic masterpiece recounting the adventures of M. de Montcul, for which Bellmer was to supply 7 lithographs.
Written under the pseudonym Pierre Morion, L'Anglais was published exclusively underground by Jean-Jacques Pauvert, before Jean Paulhan succeeded in getting it published much later by Gallimard under the author's real name.
