Céline returned to the novelistic writing that made her success for Voyage au bout de la nuit, following a period of controversy linked to the publication of her pamphlets. Guignol's Band will be followed by a second volume published posthumously in 1964, Le Pont de Londres, also entitled Guignol's Band II according to the version of the manuscript".
