In a lined slipcase and in a half red morocco folder with small overlaps, signed by J.-P. MIGUET. Bound in full brown calfskin with a dead leaf pattern. Edges gilt on witnesses. Cover and spine preserved. Book entirely mounted on tabs. Binding signed Georges LEROUX, dated 1972.
FIRST EDITION. This is one of the 16 first copies on Arches vellum.
This copy is enriched with an AUTOGRAPHIC SENDER SIGNED in black ink on the title page: "To Edmond Bomsel who, on page 182 of this book, awakens Gradiva (whom I soon put back to sleep), his friend André Breton".
The copy also contains 3 small autograph corrections by Breton on pages 204, 222 and 229.
Lawyer, bibliophile and collector, patron of several surrealists and numerous artists, Edmond Bomsel was a major but discreet player in the world of 20th century art in France.
