Can nothing happen to Don Juan worse than to see his own daughter in love with him, and to fall in love with her too? Yet this is the strange way of his eternal salvation. Rather than committing incest, Don Juan becomes the murderer of the too beautiful Maria-Lisa who resembled him so much - and this crime frees him from the demon of love, finally opening him to the divine love he was looking for without knowing it, to trial. The myth is well worn out, alas! And Don Juan probably had not much more to tell us: so let us prefer here the narrator himself, his restrained voice, his singular sensitivity.
