In a lined slipcase and folder. Bound in full green morocco. Front and back boards decorated with a mosaic floral design repeated at the corners. Diamond-shaped frame of burgundy and dark green morocco bands in the centre of the boards, containing coloured roses and a gilt quiver, on a background of cold diamonds. Inner frame of the same ornate morocco. Gilt head. Garnet silk lining and endpapers. Cover and spine preserved. Binding signed GRUEL.
Edition decorated with 26 compositions engraved on copper by Gorvel after Umberto BRUNELLESCHI and watercoloured in stencil.
LIMITED EDITION of 474 numbered copies. This is one of the 15 first copies on Japon impérial. Accompanied by a suite of 15 large figures in black on Japon signed by the artist. The original watercolor, normally attached to these copies, is missing.
