Bound in full brown morocco, mosaic and historiated frame in various colours, in the centre of the first plate a mosaic scene representing a man in his library, second plate decorated with the same frame but simplified, ornamented spine, mauve morocco lining decorated with a contoured frame with shell motifs in the style of the 18th century, brocaded silk lining with large flowers. Edges gilt on witnesses. Cover and spine preserved. Binding signed G. LEVITZKY.
Illustrated with 176 compositions by Auguste LEROUX, wood-engraved by DUPLESSIS and Ernest FLORIAN, the two FROMENT, GUSMAN and PER- RUCHON.
