"La guerre de Troie n'aura pas lieu" is a play by Jean Giraudoux, first performed on 22 November 1935 at the Théâtre de l'Athénée under the direction and with Louis Jouvet. This work seeks to decipher the fratricidal motivations of the future Second World War, as a warning. The author highlights the cynicism of politicians and their manipulation of symbols and the concept of law. The play highlights the pacifism of Giraudoux, who had fought in France and at the Battle of the Dardanelles, but also his lucidity in the face of "two stupidities, that of men and that of the elements.
