Antoine Galland published the first translation of the Thousand and One Nights from Arabic into French, between 1704 and 1717. The manuscripts from which he made his translations were brought to Paris by others. The work had a great impact in France and gave rise to a great wave of orientalism in France, in shows and literature. On the basis of the French translation, translations were made into English (1712-1715) and German (1712), into Dutch (1732) and Italian (1722), into Russian (1763) etc.
Great outfit.
