Full red cardboard binding. Horizontally split smooth spine with a brown morocco piece on which are written in gilt the title and the author's mention. Gilt date on the heel. Rubbed caps, spine and jaws. Cover and back well preserved. Pages not removed. Good condition of the contents with black and white illustrated bands, lettering and lampheads.
Enriched copy with a SIGNED SELF-SIGNED SENDING from the author.
Nice little work by the 19th century French writer Paul Bourget, which the author gratifies us with both a beautiful story and a beautiful autograph. This book recounting the misadventures of a widow in the second half of the 19th century was perfect for the fashionable audiences of the time.
