Gilded edges on witnesses. Cover kept. Binding signed SEMET& PLUMELLE.

ORIGINAL EDITION illustrated with three engraved portraits drawn from China: that of Mallarmé after Édouard Manet, and those of Rimbaud and Corbière after the photographs of Étienne Carjat.

An important collection in which Verlaine paints a portrait of these three poets who presented themselves as masters. Verlaine gives excerpts from their works: among them are six poems by Arthur Rimbaud in ORIGINAL EDITION: Vowels, Evening Prayer, The Seated, The Amazed, The Lice Seekers, and The Drunk Boat.
