Leather-edged slipcase. Solid red morocco binding. Large golden lace of Indian inspiration, decorated spine. King blue morocco linings adorned with a rich Indian decoration mosaic in multicoloured morocco, blue tabis guards, double guards, gold edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved. Binding signed P. AFFOLTER, 1911.

First print of the fifteen colour compositions by Georges ROCHEGROSSE engraved in the text by Louis Mortier. The text is framed in watercolour. The fake title, title, dedication, and each of the figures were decorated with a beautiful watercolour ornamentation, extending outside the frame, sometimes enhanced with gold, the printed subject, by the illustrator, who also added 15 small vignettes to the text.

Limited edition to 190 copies. One of the 5 headpieces on old Japan entirely decorated by Georges Rochegrosse (n°4). At the end of the volume, the copy is enriched with a decomposition of the colours of an illustration accompanied by the artist's autograph remarks in pencil.
