With a preface and notes, by M. de Lévizac.

Compilation of several letters written by two women who left their mark on 17th century France in their own way. The first, Madame de Sévigné, was a woman of letters who contributed to the cultural brilliance of the kingdom. The second, Madame de Maintenon, was the humble and discreet "Widow Scarron" who had won the favours of King Louis XIV to the point of arousing a love marriage, which was extremely rare at that time. Two different people here reunited by their writings and their respective correspondences.

Nice condition of the contents.
