"At the end of the 19th century, on a cold Sunday in November, a fifteen-year-old boy, François Seurel, who lives with his parents teachers in a red longhouse - the village school - waits for Augustine, whom his mother decided to board here so that he could follow the upper course: the arrival of the Grand Meaulnes in Sainte-Agathe would upset François' late childhood..."

When Alain Fournier's novel appeared in 1913, many of the themes he staged - acrobats, children's parties, mysterious fields - belonged to past literature, and the reader thought of Nerval and Sylvie. But by going beyond the realism of the 19th century to establish himself, between adventure and nostalgia, on the borders of the wonderful, he opens up to a world of ever quivering sensitivity, and one that has not aged.

In good condition.
