Set of 5 volumes with red half-basane binding. Spine with gilt friezes and fillets, including two pieces of black morocco on which the title, the author's name and the tomaison are written in gilt. Spine and covers rubbed. Tired jaws. All slices speckled. Small freckles on the pages. Possible traces of folds on some pages.
Several folding pages are present in volume 4.
The history of France in the 19th century, that of a return journey to the Empire. This could well summarize this collection in 5 volumes. The author, a simple French citizen, is one of the witnesses of the great events that marked this most chaotic century, from the fall of Napoleon Bonaparte to the advent of Napoleon III. This series will be appreciated for its historical importance.
