Unpublished preface, in which Huysmans explains the genesis of À Rebours. The work, representative of symbolism and the decadent movement that accompanies it, is nourished by classical culture.
This magnificent book marked the history of the illustrated book of the twentieth century. Carteret considers the work as a "tour de force of typographic printing, for the perfect realization of the wood in colors".
Superb work. The most sought-after work illustrated by Lepère (1849-1918).
