Originally from Tardets, this child prodigy cultivated his taste for linguistics and philosophy with Charles Nodier. He took part in the Carlist war in 1830. Back in France, he founded the magazine Ariel in Bayonne, which got him into trouble. With an extreme left-wing tendency, he participated in Bayonne's political life around 1848. After the coup d'état of 1851, he had to flee to Spain and saw his banned newspaper. His publications are varied, charming and interesting.

An ex-libris.
