Bound in old plum half-basin. Smooth spine, with triple repeated fillets, gilt title, quotation and author's notes. Spine and headbands slightly rubbed. Joints wrinkled. All edges speckled. Ex-libris stamped on the title page. Paper browned but in good condition.

Nice little bound copy of the original French edition. The version written in his mother tongue, English, was published in 1886 in London under the following title: The Autobiography of Sergeant William Lawrence. A Hero of the Peninsular and Waterloo Campaigns. His testimonies, in addition to being faithful to the facts, have the merit of relating to important campaigns conducted against the Emperor Napoleon.
