Set of two volumes with red half-chagrin bindings with corners. Spine with five nerves with gilt titles and tomaisons. Double gilt fillets along the boards. Spines and corners slightly rubbed. Heads gilt edges. Pages not soiled. Freckles on the pages. Black and white frontispieces. Yellow cloth bookmarks. Folding table at the end of volume 2.
Bound copies of this series of works written by Louis-Gabriel Suchet (1770-1826), a military man from Lyon who distinguished himself on the battlefield alongside Napoleon Bonaparte. In these memoirs, Suchet gives his version of the Spanish Campaign. Promoted to Marshal during the latter in 1811, he was one of the few generals of the Empire to emerge from it stronger.
