Bound in modern green half-chagrin with corners. Smooth spine faded, with gilt author's name and title in full. Double gilt fillets at head and foot. Gilt date on heel. Cover preserved. Paper browned but in very good condition. Frontispiece in black and white showing a portrait of the said Brigade Chief J.Harispe. Contents decorated with a black and white folding map.
Rare book. Much sought after.
The map is extracted from the Carte du Nord-Est de l'Espagne, by Capitaine. Offprint from the Bulletin de la Société des Sciences, Lettres et Arts de Pau, 2e Série, Tome XXII, 1892-1893, pp. 53 to 219, with the portrait and the map.
Small work evoking Jean-Isidore Harispe (1768-1855), military native of St-Etienne de Baïgorry having illustrated himself first during the Revolution and then during the Napoleonic campaigns.
Very good condition.
