Bound in half brown marbled basane with corners. Double spine, with gilt title and author's name on red-bordeaux morocco, pearled fillets and gilt fleuron. Double cold-stamped fillets on the boards. Corners of the binding rubbed. Cover very well preserved. Pages not soiled. Beautiful condition of the contents decorated with illustrations, headbands and footnotes in and out of the text in grey and black, black and white photographs out of the text, as well as a black and white map on a separate double-page. Scattered foxing on the pages. Two handwritten sheets written and signed by the author are glued to the back of the title page.
FIRST EDITION. One of 250 numbered copies on vellum paper of Pont-de-Claix.
Copy enriched with an AUTOGRAPHIC SENDING from the author: "To Mr. Maurice Viller, who knows the Basque Country as much as he loves it.
Preface by W. BOISSEL.
