I present to the Public a new and much increased edition of the Method for the Study of Geography, which I first published in 1716, in 4 volumes, and then in 1736 in 5 volumes. Nicolas Lenglet Du Fresnoy, born on 5 October 1674 in Beauvais and died on 16 January 1755 in Paris, is a French scholar, historian, geographer and philosopher. Lenglet was extraordinary because of the diversity of his interests, his sense of historical perspective, his ability to distance himself from norms and prejudices, and his business genius.
